Chinese firm to deliver abuja light rail project next year

According to recent reports, the Chinese firm, CCECC (China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation), is expected to deliver the Abuja Light Rail project in Nigeria by next year.

The Abuja Light Rail project is a 45.5-kilometer rail line that connects the city center to the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, with 12 stations along the route. The project was initially scheduled for completion in 2018, but it has faced several delays due to various reasons, including funding issues and technical challenges.

CCECC, which is a leading Chinese construction company, was awarded the contract to build the Abuja Light Rail project in 2013. The company has been working on the project since then, and despite the delays, it has made significant progress.

The Abuja Light Rail project is expected to improve transportation in the city, reduce traffic congestion, and boost economic development. It will also provide a safe and efficient mode of transportation for commuters, with trains running at a frequency of 30 minutes during peak hours.

The project is being funded by the Nigerian government, with a loan from the Export-Import Bank of China. The total cost of the project is estimated to be around $1.2 billion.

It's worth noting that the delivery of the Abuja Light Rail project by next year is subject to the company's ability to overcome any remaining challenges and complete the project on schedule. However, if completed, the project will be a significant milestone in Nigeria's transportation infrastructure development.
