Renowned writer, author, feminist, and a cultural critic, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie has added another feather to her cap as she bagged the 2019 Everett M Rogers Award from the University of Southern California.
The writer made this known on her Instagram page on Wednesday, February 13, 2019.
Taking to her Insagram page, she wrote; “Perhaps a sign of the times in which we live that I am desperately drawn to what is meaningful, what is human, what is beautiful.”
According to Willow Bay, the current USC Annenberg School Dean, Chimamanda was considered the perfect candidate for the 2019 Rogers Award because she has the voice and power to inspire many.
He said; “Her voice and her power to inspire made Chimamanda Adichie the unanimous choice for the 2019 Rogers Award. Her visit will continue the global conversation about race, gender and identity to which she’s contributed so forcefully.”
Adichie keeps making Nigeria and Africa proud with her writing and speaking prowess and we can only be thankful for a woman such as this.
