Chelsea new stadium architect
The new stadium of Chelsea Football Club, also known as Stamford Bridge, is currently under construction and is expected to be completed in 2023. The architect responsible for the design of the new stadium is Herzog & de Meuron, a Swiss architecture firm.
Herzog & de Meuron is a renowned architecture firm that has designed many notable buildings around the world, including the Beijing National Stadium (also known as the Bird's Nest) for the 2008 Summer Olympics, the Elbphilharmonie concert hall in Hamburg, Germany, and the Vitra Fire Station in Weil am Rhein, Germany.
The new Chelsea stadium is designed to have a seating capacity of approximately 60,000, with the possibility of expansion to 62,000. The stadium will feature a unique design with a retractable roof and a cantilevered upper tier that will provide excellent views of the pitch. The design also includes a number of innovative features, such as a "winter garden" that will provide a covered outdoor space for fans to enjoy during matches.
The construction of the new stadium is being carried out by the British construction company, Laing O'Rourke, and is expected to cost around £500 million. The project is expected to be completed in time for the 2023-2024 football season.
