Cbn new naira note
You're referring to the new naira notes introduced by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN)!
As of December 15, 2022, the CBN introduced new naira notes in denominations of N200, N500, and N1,000 to replace the old ones. The new notes feature enhanced security features and are designed to be more difficult to counterfeit.
Here are some key features of the new naira notes:
- N200 note: The N200 note features a portrait of Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, a Nigerian statesman and philosopher, on the obverse (front) side. The reverse (back) side features a collage of Nigerian cultural heritage, including traditional clothing, music, and art.
- N500 note: The N500 note features a portrait of Dr. Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, a Nigerian statesman and leader of the Biafran secessionist movement, on the obverse side. The reverse side features a collage of Nigerian agricultural and industrial development.
- N1,000 note: The N1,000 note features a portrait of Alhaji Maimuna Shagari, the wife of former Nigerian President Shehu Shagari, on the obverse side. The reverse side features a collage of Nigerian educational and scientific achievements.
The new naira notes also feature enhanced security features, including:
- Watermark: A transparent image of the Central Bank of Nigeria's logo or the portrait of the featured personality.
- Security thread: A thin strip of paper embedded in the note that glows pink or green when held under UV light.
- Microprinting: Tiny text that is difficult to read with the naked eye.
- Hologram: A 3D image that appears to change color or pattern when the note is tilted.
- Raised printing: Raised patterns or textures on the note that can be felt when touched.
These new naira notes are designed to improve the security and integrity of the Nigerian currency, making it more difficult for counterfeiters to produce fake notes.
