Rwanda is set to host the 2023 African Green Revolution Forum (AGRF) from September 5 to 9, 2023, in Kigali.
The forum, which is one of the most important agricultural events on the continent, will bring together over 2,000 participants from across Africa, including policymakers, farmers, researchers, and private sector players.
The theme of this year's forum is "Growing Digital Agriculture for a Food-Secure Africa" and will focus on how digital technologies can be used to improve agricultural productivity, enhance market access, and increase the incomes of smallholder farmers.
The AGRF is an annual event that was launched in 2010 to promote agricultural development and food security in Africa. It is organized by the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA), a non-profit organization that aims to improve the productivity and profitability of smallholder farmers in Africa.
Rwanda's Minister of Agriculture and Animal Resources, Dr. Geraldine Mukeshimana, said that the country is committed to hosting a successful forum that will bring together experts and stakeholders to share knowledge and experiences on how to improve agricultural productivity and food security in Africa.
"We believe that the AGRF is an important platform for us to showcase Rwanda's agricultural sector and to learn from others," Dr. Mukeshimana said. "We are confident that the forum will provide a unique opportunity for us to share our experiences and to learn from others on how to improve agricultural productivity and food security in Africa."
The AGRF is expected to attract participants from over 50 countries, including African heads of state, ministers of agriculture, and other high-level officials. The event will also feature a series of side events, including a business-to-business matchmaking session, a youth agripreneurship competition, and a women's empowerment session.
