Buhari tasks Science Ministry on solutions to insecurity, others

President Muhammadu Buhari has charged the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation to develop innovative solutions to the country's security challenges, as well as other pressing national issues.

The President gave the charge during a meeting with the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, at the State House, Abuja, on Tuesday.

According to a statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, the President urged the ministry to leverage on its expertise in science and technology to develop solutions that would address the country's security challenges, including banditry, kidnapping, and terrorism.

He also tasked the ministry to develop solutions to other national issues, including poverty, unemployment, and environmental degradation.

The President commended the ministry for its efforts in promoting science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education in the country, and urged it to continue to prioritize this area.

He also urged the ministry to collaborate with other government agencies and stakeholders to develop innovative solutions to the country's challenges.

The Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, assured the President that the ministry was committed to developing innovative solutions to the country's challenges, and would continue to work with other government agencies and stakeholders to achieve this goal.

The meeting was attended by other senior government officials, including the Minister of Defence, Major General Bashir Magashi (rtd), and the National Security Adviser, Major General Babagana Monguno (rtd).
