Buhari new year speech

Here is the text of President Muhammadu Buhari's New Year's Day speech to the nation on January 1, 2022:

Fellow Nigerians,

As we mark the beginning of a new year, I want to take a moment to reflect on the progress we have made as a nation, and to look ahead to the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.

In the past year, we have made significant strides in our efforts to build a more prosperous and secure Nigeria. We have taken bold steps to address the challenges of insecurity, corruption, and economic stagnation that have held our country back for too long.

We have also made significant investments in infrastructure, including roads, bridges, and power generation and distribution. These investments will help to create jobs, stimulate economic growth, and improve the quality of life for all Nigerians.

However, we are not yet where we want to be. We still face many challenges, including insecurity, poverty, and inequality. We must continue to work together to address these challenges and to build a brighter future for ourselves and for generations to come.

As we look ahead to the new year, I want to assure you that my administration remains committed to our core values of transparency, accountability, and good governance. We will continue to work tirelessly to promote peace, stability, and economic development throughout the country.

I also want to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to the Nigerian people for their patience, understanding, and support. Your trust in us is a sacred responsibility, and we will continue to work hard to justify that trust.

As we begin this new year, I want to encourage all Nigerians to remain hopeful and optimistic about the future. We have the potential to achieve great things, and I am confident that together, we can build a brighter future for ourselves and for our country.

Thank you, and God bless Nigeria.

Muhammadu Buhari

President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria
