Here is the New Year message delivered by President Muhammadu Buhari on January 1, 2020:

"Fellow Nigerians,

As we mark the beginning of a new decade, I want to take a moment to reflect on the progress we have made as a nation. Despite the challenges we have faced, we have made significant strides in various sectors, including the economy, infrastructure, and security.

In 2020, we will continue to work towards building a more prosperous and secure Nigeria. We will focus on creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive, and on improving the lives of our citizens.

We will also continue to invest in our infrastructure, including roads, railways, and power generation. We will work to ensure that our ports are efficient and that our trade policies are competitive.

In addition, we will continue to prioritize the security of our citizens. We will work to strengthen our security agencies and to improve our intelligence gathering capabilities.

As we look to the future, I want to emphasize the importance of unity and cooperation. We are a diverse nation, and we must work together to build a brighter future for ourselves and for generations to come.

I want to thank the Nigerian people for their patience and understanding as we work to build a better Nigeria. I also want to thank the international community for their support and partnership.

As we begin this new decade, I am filled with hope and optimism for the future of our great nation. I am confident that together, we can achieve great things and build a Nigeria that is prosperous, secure, and just for all.
