Buhari new constitution 2018
I think there may be some confusion here.
As of 2023, there is no new constitution introduced by President Muhammadu Buhari in 2018. The current constitution of Nigeria is the 1999 Constitution (as amended), which was enacted in 1999.
However, there have been several attempts to review and amend the constitution over the years, including a National Conference held in 2014, which made recommendations for constitutional reforms. Some of these recommendations were incorporated into the 2017 Constitution (Alteration) Act, which made some changes to the constitution.
In 2018, the Nigerian government launched a constitutional review process, which aimed to review and amend the constitution to address some of the country's challenges. The review process was led by a committee chaired by the Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami.
The committee submitted its report in 2020, which included recommendations for constitutional amendments. However, the report has not yet been implemented, and there is no new constitution introduced by President Buhari in 2018.
It's worth noting that the process of amending the constitution in Nigeria is a complex and time-consuming one, which requires the involvement of various stakeholders, including the National Assembly, state governments, and civil society organizations.
