Buhari approves new minimum wage
A significant development in Nigeria!
According to reports, President Muhammadu Buhari has approved a new minimum wage for Nigerian workers. The new minimum wage is N30,000 (approximately $82 USD) per month, which is an increase from the previous minimum wage of N18,000 (approximately $49 USD) per month.
The approval was announced by the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, on Tuesday, April 18, 2019. The new minimum wage is expected to benefit millions of Nigerian workers, including federal and state government employees, as well as workers in the private sector.
The increase in the minimum wage is a result of a long-standing demand by Nigerian workers and labor unions, who have been pushing for a higher minimum wage to help alleviate poverty and improve the standard of living for workers.
The new minimum wage is expected to take effect from April 18, 2019, and will be implemented by the federal and state governments, as well as private sector employers.
This development is a significant step forward in improving the welfare of Nigerian workers and is expected to have a positive impact on the economy and society as a whole.
