According to reports, President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed a new Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and four new members of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC).

The new Deputy Governor is Dr. Kingsley Isitua Isu, who was previously the Director of Banking Supervision at the CBN. He replaces Dr. Edward Adamu, who retired from the CBN in June 2022.

The four new members of the MPC are:

  2. Dr. Muhammad Sagir Bello, a Professor of Economics at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
  3. Dr. Chukwuma C. O. Soludo, a Professor of Economics at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
  4. Dr. Robert Chikwendu Chukwu, a Professor of Economics at the University of Port Harcourt.

The MPC is responsible for setting monetary policy in Nigeria, including interest rates, reserve requirements, and other measures to promote economic growth and stability.
