Buhari 2019 new year's broadcast
Here is the text of President Muhammadu Buhari's 2019 New Year's broadcast to the nation:
Fellow Nigerians,
As we welcome a new year, I want to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to Almighty God for seeing us through another year. I also want to extend my warmest wishes to all Nigerians, both at home and abroad, as we mark the beginning of a new year.
2018 was a challenging year for our country, but we made significant progress in many areas. We faced numerous security challenges, particularly in the North East, but we also made significant gains in our efforts to defeat terrorism and insurgency.
We also made progress in the economy, despite the global economic downturn. We implemented policies to stimulate growth, and we saw an improvement in our foreign exchange reserves and a reduction in inflation.
However, we still have a lot of work to do. We must continue to work together to build a more prosperous and secure Nigeria.
In the coming year, we will focus on implementing our plans to improve the economy, create jobs, and provide better infrastructure for our people. We will also continue to work to strengthen our security agencies and improve their capacity to respond to emerging threats.
We will also continue to work to improve the lives of our people, particularly in the areas of healthcare, education, and social welfare. We will ensure that our social investment programs, such as the N-Power program, continue to benefit our youth and other vulnerable groups.
We will also continue to work to promote unity and national cohesion. We believe that our diversity is a strength, and we will continue to promote policies that recognize and celebrate our differences, while also promoting national unity and cohesion.
I want to assure you that my administration is committed to transparency and accountability. We will continue to work to improve the transparency and accountability of our government, and we will ensure that our public officials are held accountable for their actions.
I want to thank the Nigerian people for their patience and understanding in the face of challenges. I also want to thank our international partners for their continued support to our country.
As we enter this new year, I want to urge all Nigerians to remain peaceful and law-abiding. Let us work together to build a better Nigeria for ourselves and for future generations.
Thank you, and God bless Nigeria.
Long live Nigeria!
