Brentford FC's new stadium!
Brentford FC, a professional football club based in Brentford, London, has been playing at Griffin Park since 1904. However, due to the stadium's aging infrastructure and limited capacity, the club has been planning to move to a new stadium.
In 2019, the club announced that it had reached an agreement with the London Borough of Hounslow to build a new stadium on a 17-acre site in Lionel Road, Brentford. The new stadium is expected to have a capacity of around 17,250 seats, with the potential to expand to 20,000 in the future.
The new stadium is being designed by architects Populous, who have worked on numerous high-profile sports venues around the world, including Wembley Stadium and the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The design features a unique, curved roofline and a cantilevered upper tier, which will provide excellent views of the pitch from all seats.
Some of the key features of the new stadium include:
- A state-of-the-art playing surface, designed to meet the highest standards of the English Football League
- A range of hospitality suites and corporate boxes, offering stunning views of the pitch
- A large, open concourse area with a variety of food and drink options
- Improved accessibility and facilities for disabled supporters
- A new, modern training facility for the club's first team and academy players
The construction of the new stadium is expected to be completed in time for the 2021-22 season, with the club planning to play its home matches at the new venue from the start of the 2022-23 season.
The new stadium is seen as a major investment in the club's future, and is expected to help Brentford FC to continue its upward trajectory in the English Football League.
