SENATE MAKES MINISTERIAL LIST PUBLIC

In a surprise move, the Senate has made public the list of ministerial nominees submitted by President Muhammadu Buhari for confirmation.

The list, which was earlier kept secret, was released by the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, during a plenary session on Wednesday.

According to the list, the President has nominated 43 individuals for ministerial positions, including some familiar faces and newcomers.

  8. Geoffrey Onyeama (Foreign Affairs)
  9. Mohammed Bello (Federal Capital Territory)
  10. Timipre Sylva (State for Petroleum Resources)

The list also includes some new faces, including:

  1. Olamilekan Adegbite (Mineral Resources)
  2. Emeka Nwajiuba (State for Education)
  3. Godwin Obaseki (State for Science, Technology and Innovation)
  4. Umana Okon Umana (State for Petroleum Resources)
  5. Festus Keyamo (State for Labour and Employment)

The Senate is expected to begin screening the nominees on Thursday, with the President's Chief of Staff, Ibrahim Gambari, expected to lead the delegation of the President to the Senate.

This development comes as a surprise to many, as the President had earlier refused to make the list public, citing security concerns.
