Early Life and Education
Professor Soremekun was born on October 12, 1963, in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria. He hails from Ondo State, Nigeria. He obtained his Bachelor's degree in History from the University of Ibadan in 1985. He then proceeded to the University of Lagos, where he earned his Master's degree in History in 1988 and his Ph.D. in History in 1993.
Academic Career
Professor Soremekun has had a distinguished academic career spanning over three decades. He began his teaching career at the University of Lagos in 1993 as a Lecturer II in the Department of History. He rose through the ranks, becoming a Senior Lecturer in 2001, Associate Professor in 2007, and Full Professor in 2012.
In 2014, he was appointed as the Dean of the Faculty of Arts at the University of Lagos, a position he held until 2019. During his tenure as Dean, he played a key role in the development of the faculty, including the establishment of new departments and programs.
Administrative Experience
