Early Life and Education:

Matthew Seiyefa was born on August 12, 1963, in Bayelsa State, Nigeria. He hails from the Ijaw ethnic group. Seiyefa had his primary education at St. Michael's Primary School, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, and later attended Government Secondary School, Ogbia, Bayelsa State, for his secondary education.

Seiyefa obtained a Bachelor's degree in Law from the University of Lagos in 1987. He also holds a Master's degree in International Relations from the University of Ibadan, which he obtained in 1994.

Career:

Seiyefa joined the Nigerian Police Force in 1987 as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP). He rose through the ranks, serving in various capacities, including as a Deputy Commissioner of Police, Commissioner of Police, and Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG).

In 2015, Seiyefa was appointed as the Deputy Director, Intelligence Response Team (IRT), a specialized unit of the Nigeria Police Force responsible for investigating high-profile crimes. He played a key role in the investigation and prosecution of several high-profile cases, including the kidnap of the Chibok schoolgirls and the murder of the former Governor of Bayelsa State, Diepreye Alamieyeseigha.

Appointment as Acting DSS Boss:

On August 7, 2018, Seiyefa was appointed as the Acting Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS) following the retirement of Lawal Daura. Seiyefa's appointment was announced by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha.

As the Acting DSS Boss, Seiyefa has been responsible for overseeing the operations of the agency, which is responsible for national security and intelligence gathering.
