Bible text that talked about new covenant with god
Here are some key Bible passages that talk about the New Covenant with God:
Jeremiah 31:31-34 - This passage is often referred to as the "New Covenant" passage in the Old Testament.
"The days are coming," declares the Lord, "When I will make a new covenant with the people of Israel and with the people of Judah.
It will not be like the covenant I made with their ancestors when I took them by the hand to lead them out of Egypt, because they broke my covenant, though I was a husband to them," declares the Lord.
"This is the covenant I will make with the people of Israel after that time," declares the Lord. "I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people.
No longer will they teach their neighbor, or say to one another, 'Know the Lord,' because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest,"
Hebrews 8:6-13 - This passage explains how the New Covenant is superior to the Old Covenant.
The old system is set aside because it is outdated and has been declared ineffective by God. That old system was only a shadow of the good things that are coming—the reality is found in Christ.
And it was not without the blood of animals and goats that they received forgiveness. For instance, the law required them to take near the altar as many as were ceremonially clean, and then to offer a goat for sin and kill the animal for their rebellion. But since that time he has appeared to the high priests, even those who are now dead and gone, so that he might make you holy and without fault before God, and he will present you to himself as a glorious church without a single flaw or blemish.
Luke 22:20 - Jesus institutes the New Covenant at the Last Supper.
In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is shed for you."
2 Corinthians 3:6-11 - This passage contrasts the Old Covenant with the New Covenant.
He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant—not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.
Now if the ministry that brought death, which was engraved in letters on stone, came with glory, so that the Israelites could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of its glory, this ministry that brings righteousness is more glorious.
Therefore, since we have such a hope, we are very bold. We are not like Moses, who would put a veil over his face to prevent the Israelites from seeing the glory that was being reflected on it. For they were considering the glory that would be theirs, but the glory has been turned to loss for them. But the ministry that brings righteousness is most certainly more glorious, and in this ministry, Jesus has become the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him.
Romans 11:27 - This passage speaks of the New Covenant as a time of salvation for all nations.
And so all Israel will be saved, as it is written: "The one whom I will call he will call; and to him I will give attention; and he will cry out to me, ‘Come!’ And I will say, ‘You are my people;’ and they will say, ‘You are our God;’"
These passages highlight the idea that the New Covenant is a new and better way of relating to God, one that is based on faith in Jesus Christ and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.
