Beijing's new airport the golden phoenix
I think there may be some confusion here!
Beijing's new airport is actually called Beijing Daxing International Airport (IATA: PKX), not the "Golden Phoenix". The airport was opened on September 30, 2019, and is located about 46 kilometers (29 miles) south of Beijing's city center.
The airport is designed to resemble a phoenix, with a unique, futuristic design that features a large, curved roof and a series of interconnected "petals" that resemble the mythical bird's feathers. The design was inspired by traditional Chinese architecture and is meant to evoke the idea of a phoenix rising from the ashes.
The airport is a major hub for Air China, China Southern Airlines, and China Eastern Airlines, and is expected to handle over 45 million passengers per year. It has been designed to be a more efficient and passenger-friendly alternative to Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK), which is currently the city's main airport.
So, while the "Golden Phoenix" might be a poetic name, it's not the actual name of Beijing's new airport!
