Bece new syllabus for 2020 2021

Here is the new BECE (Basic Education Certificate Examination) syllabus for 2020/2021:

Core Subjects:

1. English Language:
   • Paper 1: Multiple Choice Questions (40 marks)
   • Paper 2: Essay and Comprehension (60 marks)
   • Total: 100 marks
2. Mathematics:
   • Paper 1: Multiple Choice Questions (40 marks)
   • Paper 2: Short and Long Answer Questions (60 marks)
   • Total: 100 marks
3. Integrated Science:
   • Paper 1: Multiple Choice Questions (40 marks)
   • Paper 2: Short and Long Answer Questions (60 marks)
   • Total: 100 marks
4. Social Studies:
   • Paper 1: Multiple Choice Questions (40 marks)
   • Paper 2: Short and Long Answer Questions (60 marks)
   • Total: 100 marks

Elective Subjects:

1. French Language:
   • Paper 1: Multiple Choice Questions (40 marks)
   • Paper 2: Essay and Comprehension (60 marks)
   • Total: 100 marks
2. Business Studies:
   • Paper 1: Multiple Choice Questions (40 marks)
   • Paper 2: Short and Long Answer Questions (60 marks)
   • Total: 100 marks
3. Visual Arts:
   • Paper 1: Multiple Choice Questions (40 marks)
   • Paper 2: Practical and Written Questions (60 marks)
   • Total: 100 marks
4. Home Economics:

5. Technical Drawing:

Assessment:

• Core subjects: 60% of total marks
• Elective subjects: 40% of total marks
• Overall pass mark: 35%

Grading:

• A1: 80% and above
• A2: 70-79%
• B3: 60-69%
• C4: 50-59%
• D7: 40-49%
• E8: Below 40%

Note:

• The syllabus is subject to change by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC).
• Candidates are advised to check the WAEC website for any updates or changes to the syllabus.
• The BECE is a terminal examination, and candidates who pass will be eligible to proceed to the Senior High School (SHS) level.
