Beauty in the Bath Murderer Gets Life Sentence

A 35-year-old woman who murdered her husband while he was taking a bath has been sentenced to life imprisonment.

Sarah Jenkins, from Leeds, was found guilty of the murder of her 38-year-old husband, David, at their home in April 2019. The couple had been married for 10 years and had two young children together.

The court heard that Jenkins had planned the murder in advance, using a pair of scissors to stab her husband multiple times in the chest and neck while he was in the bath. She then attempted to make it look like a robbery gone wrong, but detectives quickly discovered that the crime scene had been staged.

During the trial, Jenkins claimed that she had acted in self-defence, saying that her husband had been physically and emotionally abusive towards her. However, prosecutors argued that there was no evidence to support this claim and that Jenkins had planned the murder to get rid of her husband and start a new life.

The jury took just over two hours to deliver a guilty verdict, and Judge James Goss sentenced Jenkins to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 20 years.

In a statement, Detective Chief Inspector Mark Swift said: "Sarah Jenkins' actions were brutal and calculated, and she has shown no remorse for her crimes. I hope that this sentence brings some closure to David's family and friends, and that it serves as a warning to anyone who thinks they can get away with murder."

Jenkins' children, who are now in the care of their grandparents, were in the courtroom to hear the verdict.
