Barclays to investigate security chief

Barclays Bank has announced that it will be investigating its security chief, following allegations of misconduct.

According to reports, the security chief, who has not been named, is accused of making inappropriate comments to a female colleague and of breaching company policies.

The investigation is being conducted by an external law firm, and it is expected to take several weeks to complete.

In a statement, Barclays said: "We take all allegations of misconduct seriously and are investigating this matter thoroughly. We will not comment further until the investigation is complete."

The news comes at a time when the bank is already facing scrutiny over its handling of a major cyber attack in 2017, which resulted in the theft of sensitive customer data.

It is not clear what the outcome of the investigation will be, but it is likely that the security chief will face disciplinary action if the allegations are found to be true.

In the meantime, the bank has assured customers that it is taking steps to ensure the security and integrity of its systems and data.

It is worth noting that the allegations against the security chief are not related to the cyber attack, and the bank has said that it is not aware of any evidence that the security chief was involved in the attack.
