Atiku Abubakar, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), had filed a petition at the tribunal challenging the declaration of President Muhammadu Buhari as the winner of the February 23 presidential election. Atiku's team has alleged that the election was marred by irregularities, including the use of underage voters, and has called for the cancellation of the election and a fresh one to be conducted.
The tribunal has been hearing arguments and evidence from both sides since September 2019. The tribunal has also ordered INEC to produce all election materials used in the presidential election, and has adjourned the hearing to March 6 to allow for further arguments and evidence to be presented.
