Asuu strike union resumes talk with fg
A significant development in the ongoing strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) in Nigeria!
According to reports, the ASUU has resumed talks with the Federal Government (FG) in a bid to resolve the ongoing strike, which has been ongoing for several months.
The strike, which began on February 14, 2022, was called by ASUU to demand better working conditions, improved funding for public universities, and the implementation of previous agreements between the union and the government.
The resumption of talks comes after a meeting between the ASUU leadership and the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, on Monday, October 3, 2022.
In a statement, ASUU President, Professor Emmanuel Osodeke, said that the union is committed to finding a solution to the strike and is willing to work with the government to achieve this.
The FG, on its part, has also expressed its willingness to engage with ASUU and find a lasting solution to the strike.
The talks are expected to focus on the key issues that led to the strike, including the payment of outstanding salaries, the implementation of the University Transparency and Accountability Solution (UTAS), and the revitalization of public universities.
Let's hope that these talks lead to a positive outcome and a resolution to the strike, which has had a significant impact on the academic calendar and the lives of students and lecturers in Nigeria.
