Asuu reacts to fgs no work no pay rule

I think there may be some confusion here!

ASUU stands for Academic Staff Union of Universities, which is a trade union that represents the interests of academic staff in Nigerian universities. FGS, on the other hand, is likely an abbreviation for Federal Government of Nigeria.

If I'm correct, the "no work no pay" rule refers to a policy where the government stops paying salaries to striking workers, including university lecturers, if they fail to resume work during a strike.

If that's the case, here's a possible reaction from ASUU:

ASUU Reacts to FGS "No Work No Pay" Rule

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has expressed deep disappointment and frustration at the Federal Government's decision to implement the "no work no pay" rule during the ongoing strike by university lecturers.

In a statement, ASUU President, Professor Biodun Ogunyemi, said: "This policy is a clear attempt to intimidate and coerce our members into returning to work without addressing the fundamental issues that led to the strike in the first place. We will not be deterred by this draconian measure."

ASUU argued that the strike was called to protest the government's failure to implement the 2009 FGN-ASUU agreement, which includes issues such as funding for universities, staff welfare, and the promotion of academic excellence. The union has been demanding a review of the agreement and the implementation of the 2013 Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the government and ASUU.

"We will continue to resist any attempt to undermine our rights and the rights of our students," Professor Ogunyemi said. "We urge the government to engage in meaningful dialogue with us to resolve the outstanding issues and ensure that our universities are adequately funded and equipped to provide quality education to our students."

ASUU has called on its members to remain resolute and committed to the strike until the government addresses their demands.
