ASUU Debunks Rumour of Receiving N163 Billion from FG
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has debunked a rumour making the rounds that the Federal Government has released N163 billion to the union.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, ASUU's National President, Professor Emmanuel Osodeke, described the rumour as "false and misleading".
According to Professor Osodeke, the union has not received any such amount from the Federal Government, and any claim to that effect is a fabrication.
The statement reads: "The attention of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has been drawn to a false and misleading report circulating in the media that the Federal Government has released N163 billion to ASUU. We wish to categorically deny this rumour as false and misleading.
"ASUU has not received any such amount from the Federal Government, and any claim to that effect is a fabrication. We urge the public to disregard this rumour and not to be misled by it.
"The union is still waiting for the Federal Government to fulfill its obligations to the universities, including the payment of outstanding salaries, allowances, and other benefits to our members. We will continue to engage with the government to resolve the outstanding issues and ensure that our universities are adequately funded."
It's essential to verify information before sharing it to avoid spreading misinformation. Thank you, ASUU, for setting the record straight!
