Asuu accuses lasu of admission racketeering
A juicy one!
It appears that the Association of Students of the University of Lagos (ASUU) has accused the Lagos State University (LASU) of engaging in admission racketeering.
According to reports, ASUU made this accusation during a meeting with the National Universities Commission (NUC) in Abuja. The union alleged that LASU has been involved in a racketeering scheme, where some individuals are being offered admission in exchange for large sums of money.
ASUU claimed that this practice has been going on for some time and has led to the admission of unqualified students into the university. The union also alleged that LASU has been using fake admission lists to deceive students and their parents.
LASU has, however, denied the allegations, describing them as "baseless and unfounded". The university's management claimed that it has a transparent and merit-based admission process, and that any allegations of admission racketeering are "misconceived and malicious".
This is not the first time that LASU has been accused of admission racketeering. In 2019, the university was accused of selling admission forms to students at exorbitant prices, and of offering admission to students who did not meet the required cut-off marks.
The NUC has promised to investigate the allegations and take appropriate action if found to be true. This is a serious issue that requires immediate attention, as it can undermine the integrity of the university and the quality of education being offered.
What do you think about this development? Should universities be held accountable for their admission processes?
