As new testament priests we have direct access to god
I think there may be some misunderstanding here.
In the New Testament, the concept of priesthood is not exactly the same as in the Old Testament. In the Old Testament, the Levitical priests had a specific role as mediators between God and humanity, offering sacrifices and interceding on behalf of the people (e.g., Exodus 28:1-5, Leviticus 8:1-36).
In the New Testament, Jesus Christ is seen as the ultimate High Priest (Hebrews 3:1, 4:14-16, 5:5-6, 7:1-28, 8:1-6, 9:11-28). As the Son of God, Jesus is the only mediator between God and humanity, and He has made a once-for-all sacrifice for our sins (Hebrews 9:26-28, 10:10-14).
As for believers in Christ, the New Testament teaches that we have direct access to God through Jesus Christ, but not as priests in the same sense as the Old Testament Levitical priests. Instead, we are seen as "priests" in a spiritual sense, offering spiritual sacrifices of praise, thanksgiving, and service to God (1 Peter 2:5, Romans 12:1-2, Hebrews 13:15-16).
In this sense, we have direct access to God through Jesus Christ, who has opened up a new and living way for us to approach God (Hebrews 10:19-22). We can come to God with confidence, knowing that we are forgiven and accepted in Christ, and that we can bring our prayers, praises, and concerns directly to Him (Ephesians 2:18, 3:12, 5:20).
So, to summarize, while we do have direct access to God through Jesus Christ, we are not seen as priests in the same sense as the Old Testament Levitical priests. Instead, we are seen as spiritual priests, offering spiritual sacrifices to God and having direct access to Him through Jesus Christ.
