Arraign abaribe or grant him bail falana tells dss

It seems like a recent development!

According to reports, Femi Falana, a Nigerian human rights lawyer, has written to the Department of State Services (DSS) demanding that Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, a member of the Senate, be either arraigned in court or granted bail.

Senator Abaribe was arrested by the DSS on October 7, 2021, and has been in custody since then. Falana, in his letter, argued that the prolonged detention of the senator without a trial is unconstitutional and a violation of his fundamental human rights.

Falana stated that the DSS has no legal justification to continue detaining Senator Abaribe without charging him to court or granting him bail. He urged the DSS to either arraign the senator in court or release him on bail, pending the outcome of the investigation.

This development comes as a response to the prolonged detention of Senator Abaribe, who was arrested in connection with the alleged kidnapping of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.
