Archbishops new year message 2017
I think you may be referring to the Archbishop of Canterbury's New Year message for 2017. Here is the text of his message:
"As we stand at the threshold of a new year, I want to offer a prayer for the world. May God bless us with wisdom, courage, and compassion as we face the challenges that lie ahead.
In the coming year, we will continue to grapple with the consequences of conflict, poverty, and inequality. We will face the ongoing threat of terrorism, and the devastating impact of climate change. We will struggle to find ways to bring people together, to build bridges between different cultures and communities, and to promote peace and understanding.
But even in the midst of all this uncertainty and challenge, I want to remind you that there is hope. There is always hope. For we are not alone. We are part of a global community, bound together by our shared humanity. And we are not without resources. We have the capacity to love, to forgive, and to care for one another.
As we look to the future, I want to encourage you to hold on to these values. Let us strive to be people of hope, people of faith, people who trust in the goodness of God and in the power of human kindness.
And as we do so, let us also remember the words of the prophet Isaiah: 'The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness, on them has light shone.' (Isaiah 9:2)
May this light shine brightly in our lives, and may it guide us as we journey through the coming year. May we be a people of hope, a people of light, and a people of love. Amen."
