Apa 6th edition referencing a news paper
In the 6th edition of the APA Publication Manual, the format for referencing a newspaper article is as follows:
Newspaper Article
Print Newspaper
- Author, A. A. (Year, Month Day of publication). Title of article. Title of newspaper, pp. xx-xx.
- Example:
- Smith, J. (2022, January 15). New study reveals surprising benefits of meditation. The New York Times, pp. A1-A3.
Online Newspaper
- Author, A. A. (Year, Month Day of publication). Title of article. Retrieved from https://www.newspaperwebsite.com/article
- Example:
- Johnson, K. (2022, February 20). Local business owner speaks out on new regulations. Retrieved from https://www.localnewspaper.com/news/business-owner-speaks-out-on-new-regulations
Note:
- If the newspaper article does not have an author, start the citation with the title of the article.
- If the newspaper article does not have a date of publication, use "n.d." instead.
- If the newspaper article is retrieved from a database or online archive, include the database or archive name in the citation.
- If the newspaper article is not available online, you can use the print version of the citation.
Additional Tips:
- Make sure to include the title of the article in the citation, as well as the title of the newspaper.
- If the article is from a specific section of the newspaper (e.g. sports, opinion), include that information in the citation.
