Anyone in christ is a new creation
What a powerful and liberating truth!
In 2 Corinthians 5:17, the apostle Paul writes: "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!"
This verse is a declaration of the transformative power of Jesus Christ. When we put our faith in Him, we are not just forgiven of our sins, but we are also given a brand new identity. We are no longer defined by our past mistakes, our brokenness, or our limitations. We are a new creation, made in the image of God, with a new purpose and a new destiny.
As a new creation, we are:
- Free from the power of sin: We are no longer slaves to our sinful nature, but we are empowered by the Holy Spirit to live a life that is pleasing to God.
- Reconciled to God: We are no longer estranged from God, but we are reconciled to Him through faith in Jesus Christ.
- Given a new heart: We are given a new heart, a heart of flesh, that is capable of loving God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength.
- Empowered to live a new life: We are empowered to live a life that is characterized by love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control, and humility.
- Destined for eternal life: We are destined for eternal life with God, where we will live in His presence forever, free from sin, suffering, and pain.
As a new creation, we are not just a work in progress, but we are a new creation, fully and completely transformed by the power of God. We are a masterpiece, created in Christ Jesus, to display the glory of God.
So, if you are in Christ, remember that you are a new creation, and live accordingly.
