Amaa filmmakers can now submit movies for 2019 award consideration

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) has officially opened the submission process for the 92nd Academy Awards, recognizing outstanding achievements in filmmaking for 2019.
From now until the deadline, eligible filmmakers can submit their feature films, short films, and documentaries for consideration in various categories, including:
- Best Picture
- Best Director
- Best Actor and Actress
- Best Supporting Actor and Actress
- Best Original Screenplay
- Best Adapted Screenplay
- Best Cinematography
- Best Film Editing
- Best Production Design
- Best Costume Design
- Best Makeup and Hairstyling
- Best Sound Mixing and Sound Editing
- Best Visual Effects
- Best Documentary Feature
- Best Documentary Short Subject
- Best Animated Feature Film
- Best Animated Short Film
To be eligible, films must meet specific criteria, such as:
- Feature films must be at least 40 minutes long and have been publicly exhibited for paid admission in a commercial theater in Los Angeles County, California, for at least a week.
- Short films must be 40 minutes or less in length.
- Documentaries must be feature-length (40 minutes or longer) or short (less than 40 minutes).
The submission process typically opens in May and closes in November, with the Academy announcing the nominees in January and the winners at the annual Oscars ceremony in February.
