Alberta's new express entry
Alberta's Express Entry Stream!
In June 2020, the Government of Alberta launched its own Express Entry stream, called the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) Express Entry Stream. This stream allows the province to nominate candidates from the federal Express Entry pool for permanent residence in Alberta.
Here are the key details:
Eligibility:
- Candidates must have a profile in the federal Express Entry pool and meet the eligibility criteria for one of the three federal economic immigration programs:
- Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)
- Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)
- Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
- Candidates must have a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 300 or higher
- Candidates must have a valid job offer in Alberta or be working in Alberta in a job that is related to their field of expertise
Nomination process:
- The AINP Express Entry Stream operates on a first-come, first-served basis
- Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria are invited to apply for nomination through the AINP online portal
- Candidates must submit their application and supporting documents within 30 days of receiving the invitation
- The AINP reviews the application and supporting documents, and if approved, issues a nomination certificate to the candidate
Benefits:
- A nomination certificate from the AINP gives candidates an additional 600 points in the federal Express Entry pool, making it more likely for them to receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence
- Candidates who receive a nomination certificate can apply for permanent residence through the federal government
Key differences from federal Express Entry:
- The AINP Express Entry Stream has a lower CRS score requirement (300) compared to the federal Express Entry pool (450-500)
- The AINP Express Entry Stream prioritizes candidates with a valid job offer in Alberta or those who are working in Alberta in a job related to their field of expertise
Overall, the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) Express Entry Stream provides an additional pathway for skilled workers to immigrate to Alberta and contribute to the province's economy.
