Air canada to suspend majority of international flights
Air Canada has announced that it will be suspending the majority of its international flights in response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting travel restrictions and border closures.
According to a statement from the airline, the suspension will affect most of its international flights, including those to Europe, Asia, and Latin America, effective March 24. The airline will continue to operate some flights to the United States, as well as a limited number of flights to destinations in the Caribbean and Mexico.
The suspension is a result of the significant decline in demand for international travel due to the pandemic, as well as the implementation of travel restrictions and border closures by governments around the world. The airline is taking this step to reduce its costs and conserve cash, while also ensuring the safety and well-being of its employees and customers.
Air Canada has also announced that it will be reducing its domestic flight schedule by 50% in response to the pandemic. The airline is working closely with the Canadian government and other stakeholders to monitor the situation and adjust its operations as needed.
It's worth noting that this is not the first time Air Canada has suspended international flights due to the pandemic. In March 2020, the airline suspended all of its international flights in response to the pandemic, and it has since gradually restored some of its international service.
It's always a good idea to check with your airline for the latest information on flight schedules and travel restrictions before planning a trip.
