World War Z Script Review
By Harry Knowles
June 2012
I just got out of a screening of the World War Z script, and I have to say, it's a wild ride. Brad Pitt's production company, Plan B, has been working on this project for years, and it's finally come together in a big way.
The script, written by Matthew Michael Carnahan, Drew Goddard, and Damon Lindelof, is a real page-turner. It's a fast-paced, action-packed thrill ride that's got some real heart to it.
The story follows Gerry Lane (Brad Pitt), a former United Nations employee who's now a stay-at-home dad. When a zombie outbreak occurs, Gerry's family is caught in the middle of it, and he's forced to go on a mission to find a way to stop the outbreak before it's too late.
The script does a great job of building tension and suspense, and the action scenes are intense and well-choreographed. The zombies are fast-moving and terrifying, and the special effects are top-notch.
But what really sets World War Z apart is its scope. The script takes us on a global journey, showing us how the outbreak affects different parts of the world. It's a big, epic story that's got a lot of heart and a lot of humor.
The characters are well-developed and relatable, and the dialogue is snappy and engaging. Brad Pitt is perfect as Gerry Lane, bringing a sense of everyman-ness to the role.
Overall, I think World War Z is a real winner. It's a fun, exciting, and emotional ride that's got something for everyone. I'm excited to see how it turns out on the big screen.
Grade: A-
Recommendation: If you're a fan of action movies, zombie movies, or just good storytelling in general, you owe it to yourself to check out World War Z. It's a real thrill ride that's got a lot of heart and a lot of humor.
