Adding new phyiscal adapter on vsphere
To add a new physical adapter on vSphere, you'll need to follow these steps:
Prerequisites:
- Ensure you have the necessary permissions to configure the vSphere host.
- Make sure the physical adapter is compatible with the vSphere host and the virtual machine (VM) you want to connect it to.
Step 1: Connect to the vSphere Web Client
- Open a web browser and navigate to the vSphere Web Client URL (e.g.,
https://your-vsphere-host.com/vsphere-client
). - Log in with your credentials.
Step 2: Navigate to the Hosts and Clusters view
- In the vSphere Web Client, click on the Hosts and Clusters tab.
- Select the host where you want to add the new physical adapter.
Step 3: Configure the Physical Adapter
- Click on the Configure tab for the selected host.
- Click on Hardware > Network Adapters.
- Click on the Add button to add a new network adapter.
- Select the type of physical adapter you want to add (e.g., Ethernet, Fibre Channel, etc.).
- Fill in the required information, such as the adapter name, MAC address, and VLAN settings (if applicable).
- Click Next to proceed.
Step 4: Configure the Adapter Settings
- In the Adapter Settings page, you can configure additional settings for the new physical adapter, such as:
- MTU (Maximum Transmission Unit) size
- Speed and duplex settings
- VLAN settings (if applicable)
- Power management settings
- Click Next to proceed.
Step 5: Review and Confirm
- Review the configuration settings for the new physical adapter.
- Click Finish to add the new physical adapter to the host.
Step 6: Verify the Adapter
- Verify that the new physical adapter has been successfully added to the host by checking the Network Adapters page.
- Ensure that the adapter is enabled and configured correctly.
