A new name sermon
Here's a new name sermon:
"Renewal"
Text: Isaiah 43:19-21
Message:
In a world that's constantly changing, it's easy to feel like we're stuck in a rut. We may feel like we're going through the motions of life, but not really making progress. We may feel like we're just trying to survive, rather than thrive.
But today, I want to remind you that God is a God of renewal. He is a God who can take what's old and make it new again. He is a God who can take our brokenness and make us whole.
In Isaiah 43:19-21, God says, "I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. I will plant in the wilderness the cedar, the cypress, and the acacia tree. I will bring forth my people from the land of Egypt and from the land of Assyria. I will bring them to the land that I swore to give to their fathers, and they shall dwell there."
God is saying that He can take the dry and barren places in our lives and make them fertile and fruitful. He can take our struggles and turn them into opportunities for growth and transformation.
But how do we experience this renewal in our lives? It starts with surrender. We have to surrender our lives to God and ask Him to renew us. We have to be willing to let go of our old ways and our old selves, and trust that God will make us new.
It also requires us to be still and listen to God's voice. We have to quiet our minds and hearts and listen to what God is saying to us. We have to be willing to wait on Him and trust that He will bring us to the place He has promised.
And finally, it requires us to be obedient to God's voice. We have to be willing to take the steps that God is leading us to take, even when it's hard or uncomfortable. We have to be willing to trust that God is leading us to a place of renewal and transformation.
So I want to leave you with a challenge today. I want to challenge you to surrender your life to God and ask Him to renew you. I want to challenge you to be still and listen to God's voice, and to be obedient to what He is saying to you.
Remember, God is a God of renewal. He can take what's old and make it new again. He can take our brokenness and make us whole. And He can bring us to a place of transformation and renewal, if we are willing to surrender our lives to Him.
Prayer:
Dear God, we come to you today, surrendering our lives to you. We ask you to renew us, to take what's old and make it new again. We ask you to take our brokenness and make us whole. We ask you to bring us to a place of transformation and renewal. Help us to be still and listen to your voice, and to be obedient to what you are saying to us. We pray this in Jesus' name, Amen.
