A new man sermon
Here's a sermon on the topic of "A New Man":
Title: A New Man
Text: Ephesians 4:17-24
Introduction:
Have you ever felt like you're stuck in a rut? Like you're going through the motions of life, but not really living? Maybe you've been feeling like you're not the person you used to be, or that you're not living up to your potential. Well, I want you to know that you're not alone. We all go through times like this. But the good news is that God has a plan to help us become the people He created us to be.
The Old Man:
In Ephesians 4:17-24, Paul writes about the "old man" and the "new man". The "old man" refers to our old nature, our sinful self. This is the part of us that is controlled by our flesh, our desires, and our fears. It's the part of us that wants to do its own thing, that wants to be in control, and that wants to live life on its own terms.
But the problem with the "old man" is that it's a slave to sin. It's controlled by our sinful desires, and it leads us down a path of destruction. It's the reason why we struggle with things like anger, pride, and selfishness. It's the reason why we make mistakes, and why we hurt those around us.
The New Man:
But God has a better plan. He wants to create in us a "new man", a new nature, a new way of living. This is the part of us that is controlled by the Spirit of God, that is guided by His Word, and that is motivated by love for Him and for others.
The "new man" is not perfect, but it's a work in progress. It's a process of transformation, of being changed from the inside out. It's a process of putting off the old ways of living, and putting on the new ways of living.
How to Become a New Man:
So, how do we become a "new man"? How do we put off the old ways of living and put on the new ways of living? Here are a few things that we can do:
- Put off the old man: We need to recognize that the "old man" is not who we are in Christ. We need to put off the old ways of living, and put on the new ways of living.
- Put on the new man: We need to put on the new nature, the new way of living. We need to be guided by the Spirit of God, and motivated by love for Him and for others.
- Be transformed: We need to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. We need to let God's Word change the way we think, the way we feel, and the way we live.
- Walk in the Spirit: We need to walk in the Spirit, and not in the flesh. We need to be controlled by the Spirit of God, and not by our own desires and fears.
Conclusion:
Becoming a "new man" is not an easy process. It takes time, effort, and perseverance. But it's worth it. When we become a "new man", we become the people God created us to be. We become the people we were meant to be.
So, I want to leave you with a challenge today. I want to challenge you to put off the old man, and put on the new man. I want to challenge you to be transformed by the renewing of your mind, and to walk in the Spirit. I want to challenge you to become the person God created you to be.
Prayer:
Dear God, we come to you today, acknowledging that we are not the people we used to be. We are not the people we were meant to be. But we know that you have a plan to help us become the people you created us to be. Help us to put off the old man, and put on the new man. Help us to be transformed by the renewing of our minds, and to walk in the Spirit. Help us to become the people you created us to be. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
