A new heart and a new spirit sermon

Here's a sermon on the theme of "A New Heart and a New Spirit":

Title: A New Heart and a New Spirit

Text: Ezekiel 36:24-28, 2 Corinthians 5:17

Introduction:

Have you ever felt like you're stuck in a rut? Like you're going through the motions of life, but something is missing? Maybe you've tried to shake things up, to make a change, but nothing seems to be working. You feel like you're just going through the motions, but you're not really living.

That's because we all need a new heart and a new spirit. We all need a fresh start, a new beginning. And that's exactly what God offers us through Jesus Christ.

The Problem:

In Ezekiel 36:24-28, God is speaking to the Israelites, who have been in exile for many years. They've been away from their homeland, away from their families, and away from their God. And they're feeling hopeless. They're feeling like they'll never be able to go back home, like they'll never be able to be the people God created them to be.

And God says to them, "I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh." (Ezekiel 36:26)

What does that mean? It means that God is offering them a fresh start. He's offering them a new beginning. He's offering them a chance to leave their old lives behind and start anew.

The Solution:

But how do we get this new heart and new spirit? How do we get this fresh start? The answer is Jesus Christ. Through Jesus, we can have a new heart and a new spirit. We can have a fresh start.

In 2 Corinthians 5:17, Paul writes, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!" (2 Corinthians 5:17)

What does that mean? It means that when we put our faith in Jesus Christ, we become a new creation. We become a new person. We get a new heart and a new spirit.

The Result:

So what does this new heart and new spirit look like? What does this fresh start look like?

It looks like a life that is transformed by the power of God. It looks like a life that is marked by love, joy, peace, and hope. It looks like a life that is surrendered to God and is living for Him.

It looks like a life that is no longer controlled by sin and selfishness, but is controlled by the Spirit of God. It looks like a life that is no longer stuck in the past, but is living in the present and looking to the future.

Conclusion:

So if you're feeling stuck, if you're feeling like you need a fresh start, I want to encourage you to turn to Jesus Christ. He is the one who can give you a new heart and a new spirit. He is the one who can give you a fresh start.

Don't settle for a life that is stuck in the past. Don't settle for a life that is controlled by sin and selfishness. Instead, surrender your life to God and ask Him to give you a new heart and a new spirit.

You can do it. You can have a new heart and a new spirit. You can have a fresh start. And when you do, you'll find that life is full of hope, joy, and purpose.
