A new chapter sermon

Here's a sample sermon on the theme of "A New Chapter":

Title: "A New Chapter: Embracing the Unknown"

Text: Hebrews 11:1-3, 8-12

Introduction:

As we gather here today, many of us may be feeling a sense of uncertainty about the future. We may be facing challenges, making big decisions, or simply trying to navigate the ups and downs of life. And in the midst of all this uncertainty, it's easy to feel overwhelmed, anxious, or even stuck.

But today, I want to remind you that God is not a God of uncertainty, but a God of new beginnings. He is the God who says, "I will make all things new" (Revelation 21:5). And as we look to Him, we can find the courage and confidence to step into the unknown, knowing that He is with us every step of the way.

The Power of Faith:

In Hebrews 11, we read about the heroes of faith who lived by faith, not by sight. They didn't know what the future held, but they trusted in God's promises and stepped out in faith. And as they did, they experienced incredible things – they saw miracles, they were delivered from danger, and they were used by God to accomplish great things.

But here's the thing: faith isn't about knowing what's going to happen next. Faith is about trusting in God, even when we don't know what's going to happen next. It's about believing that He is good, that He is sovereign, and that He is working everything out for our good (Romans 8:28).

The Gift of Uncertainty:

Now, I know what you might be thinking: "But why would God give us uncertainty in the first place?" And the answer is, He doesn't give us uncertainty because He's trying to confuse us or make our lives more difficult. He gives us uncertainty because it's an opportunity for us to trust in Him more deeply.

Think about it: when we're facing uncertainty, we're forced to rely on God in ways that we might not have otherwise. We're forced to trust in His goodness, His sovereignty, and His love. And as we do, we discover that He is faithful, that He is strong, and that He is always with us.

A New Chapter:

So as we look to the future, I want to encourage you to embrace the unknown with faith. Don't be afraid to take risks, to step out in faith, and to trust in God's goodness. Remember that He is the God who is always working everything out for our good, even when we can't see it.

And as you do, I want to remind you that you are not alone. You are part of a community of believers who are also walking by faith, not by sight. You are part of a community that is praying for you, supporting you, and encouraging you to trust in God more deeply.

So let's take a deep breath together and say, "I trust in You, God. I trust in Your goodness, Your sovereignty, and Your love. I trust that You are working everything out for my good, even when I don't know what's going to happen next."

Conclusion:

As we close, I want to leave you with a challenge: what is one area of your life where you need to trust in God more deeply? Is it a big decision you're facing? Is it a challenge you're trying to overcome? Is it a fear you're trying to overcome?

Whatever it is, I want to encourage you to take a step of faith today. Trust in God's goodness, His sovereignty, and His love. And as you do, I promise you that He will meet you in the midst of your uncertainty, and He will guide you into a new chapter of faith, hope, and joy.
