2019 buhari new year message
Here is the New Year message delivered by President Muhammadu Buhari on January 1, 2019:
"Fellow Nigerians,
As we mark the beginning of a new year, I want to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to Almighty God for seeing us through another year. I also want to extend my warmest wishes to all Nigerians, both at home and abroad, as we embark on this new journey.
2018 was a challenging year for our country, but we made significant progress in many areas. We made progress in the fight against corruption, and we are committed to continuing this fight in 2019.
We also made progress in the area of infrastructure development, with the completion of several projects, including the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, the Abuja-Kaduna Railway, and the Mambilla Power Plant.
In addition, we made progress in the area of agriculture, with the launch of the Anchor Borrowers' Programme, which has helped to increase agricultural production and reduce the country's reliance on imported food.
However, we also faced challenges in 2018, including the impact of the global economic downturn, the effects of climate change, and the security challenges posed by Boko Haram and other terrorist groups.
As we move into 2019, we are determined to build on the progress we made in 2018 and to address the challenges we faced. We will continue to work hard to create a more prosperous and secure Nigeria for all Nigerians.
I want to assure you that my administration is committed to delivering on its promises to the Nigerian people. We will continue to work tirelessly to improve the lives of all Nigerians, and to create a better future for our country.
I want to thank the Nigerian people for their patience and understanding in the face of the challenges we have faced. I also want to thank the international community for their support and cooperation.
As we begin this new year, I want to urge all Nigerians to remain united and to work together to build a better future for our country. Let us continue to support each other and to work together to overcome the challenges we face.
Thank you, and God bless Nigeria."
