2018 post utme fg vows to sanction institutions charging above n2000
A great piece of news!
On August 24, 2018, the Federal Government of Nigeria announced that it would sanction institutions that charge above N2,000 for the Post-Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) screening.
The Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, made this announcement at a meeting with the National Assembly Committee on Education. He stated that the government would not tolerate any institution that charges more than the approved fee for the screening exercise.
The Minister emphasized that the government's decision was aimed at ensuring that all Nigerian students have equal access to tertiary education, regardless of their financial status. He also warned that any institution found to be charging above the approved fee would face severe sanctions, including the revocation of their licenses.
The approved fee for the Post-UTME screening is N2,000, which is a significant reduction from the previous fees charged by some institutions. The government's decision to cap the fee at N2,000 is expected to make tertiary education more accessible to a larger number of Nigerian students.
It's great to see the government taking steps to ensure that education is made more affordable and accessible to all Nigerians.
