9 When they reached the Jordan River, they stopped for a moment. Elijah climbed up on the riverbank, rolled up his sleeves, and prayed, "O Lord, God of Elijah! Have you not had enough trouble with your servant Elijah? Have I not been careful to obey the commands you gave me, just as my father, the Israelites, and the king who now rules Israel have done? I have done everything you told me to do."

10 Then the heavens opened, and a chariot of fire appeared, pulled by horses of fire. Elijah went up to heaven in a whirlwind!
