1000 min gre to new scale
The GRE has undergone several changes in scoring over the years. The most recent change was in 2011, when the test switched from a 200-800 scoring scale to a 130-170 scoring scale.
To convert a score from the old 200-800 scale to the new 130-170 scale, you can use the following conversion chart:
Old Score (200-800) | New Score (130-170) |
---|---|
200-240 | 130-140 |
250-280 | 141-150 |
290-310 | 151-160 |
320-340 | 161-165 |
350-370 | 166-170 |
380-400 | 166-170 |
410-430 | 166-170 |
440-460 | 166-170 |
470-490 | 166-170 |
500-520 | 166-170 |
530-550 | 166-170 |
560-580 | 166-170 |
590-610 | 166-170 |
620-640 | 166-170 |
650-670 | 166-170 |
680-700 | 166-170 |
710-730 | 166-170 |
740-760 | 166-170 |
770-790 | 166-170 |
800 | 170 |
Using this chart, a score of 1000 on the old scale would correspond to a score of approximately 164 on the new scale.
Keep in mind that this conversion is approximate, as the new scoring scale is more nuanced and takes into account the test-taker's performance on each section (Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, and Analytical Writing).
