Violence today broke out at the Ogun State All Progressives Congress rally, held at the MKO Abiola International Stadium, Abeokuta.
PUNCH reports that some people believed to be supporters of another political party in the state were seen chasing away supporters of the APC governorship candidate in the state, Dapo Abiodun, from their seats as they await the arrival of President Muhammadu Buhari.
It was also reported that on arrival, President Buhari escaped being pelted with stones and some angry supporters stoned the APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole.
The programme, which commenced officially immediately after President Buhari arrived, was paused for some minutes following the violence.
It was gathered that violence erupted when Oshiomhole was invited to the podium for his speech. As he began to speak, persons suspected to be hoodlums started throwing stones at him and one of the stones flew in the direction where the President was sitting.
He was saved by one of the security operatives who took the hit for the President.
The development angered the leaders of the party, including former Governor of Lagos State, Bola Tinubu, who left the podium while the President was making his remarks.
