The information department of the Lagos State University (LASU) disclosed that the school management has suspended 25 students from different departments for examination misconduct.
The reports showed that 19 students are from the external system in Festac, three from the Isolo campus and three from the main campus, Faculty of Social Sciences.
According to the LASU bulletin, the exam misconduct was committed in 2012/2013, 2013/2014 and 2014/2015 academic sessions.
The students’ suspension arose as a result of several offences, which include the use of fake docket, impersonation, having answers on a phone, or piece of paper, possession of photocopies of materials inside the exam hall.
Fourteen of the affected students are in 500 level, final year at the external system, three in 400 level, seven in 300 level and one in 200 level.
The statement reads: ‘’The university management, on the recommendation of the students’ disciplinary committee, has approved the immediate suspension of 25 students of the institution for the 2015/2016 academic session.
“The students were on suspension for failing to appear before the examination misconduct panels set up by the university, to consider cases of examination misconduct allegations levelled against them.”
“The disciplinary panel took the decision at its 37th statutory meeting and directed that the students be re-invited for trial while serving the suspension and should liaise with their faculties/campuses for a new date.
