The  Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Prof Idowu Olayinka, has made a spectacle of himself for his unbelievably ‘vulgar’ comment about a Facebook user, Asiwaju Babatunde Badmus.

The VC of the premier university, known all over for its legacy of ‘character and learning’, while replying to Badmus’s  comment on his Facebook post, said: “Your father and forebears are descendants of Abacha.”

In his Facebook post, Olayinka called on students to disregard the possible attempt by the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) to disrupt the second-semester examination of the institution.

Olayinka claims that based on reliable reports, NANS suspected upheaval, which is expected to start on Monday 8th January 2018, was masterminded by Ojo Aderemi, a deposed president of the Student Union. The VC added that the Student Union of the school remains suspended, and the school would not allow “anarchists disrupt the relative peace” on the campus.

Meanwhile, Badmus, a former Student Union President of the University, had questioned the ‘draconian’ tone in the Olayinka’s post about the Student Union of the varsity, which has been suspended since May 2017. He said the tone of the VC shows that he would be a ‘better Abacha’ while questioning his authority to suspend a students’ group.

Gen Sanni Abacha is a former military leader of Nigeria, whose leadership is characterised by totalitarianism.
