Two persons were kept in prison custody by an Osogbo Chief Magistrates’ Court in Osun State on Tuesday for an alleged murder of an undergraduate of the Osun State University.
The accused are 49-year-old Izak Yusuf, and 55-year-old Abdulkazeem Adeoti, and they are charged with murder bordering on conspiracy, murder and unlawful possession of human parts.
The prosecuting counsel, ASP Mireti Wilson, said that the accused carried out the dastardly act in the night on June 26 at Oke Baale in the state capital, Oshogbo.
Wilson said the victim Timileyin Oluwafemi Sonibare, who was a student of UNIOSUN, was killed by the accused with the use of a pestle, while his head, hands, and other body parts were severed.
According to the prosecutor, the said offence was punishable under sections 324, 319 and 242 of the Criminal Code cap 34 vol.11 Laws of Osun, 2003.
The plea of no guilt was, however, made by the two accused persons.
The defence counsel, Mr Kazeem Badmus, requested that the accused be granted bail on the most acceptable legal terms.
The Magistrate, Mrs Mary Awodele however, turned down the request on the ground that the offence is a premeditated criminal case.
She ordered that the accused be kept in Ilesa prison custody, pending the determination of the suit on July 25.
