Two members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Aminat Dauda from Ogun and Gbenga Osuntan have reportedly received the Sultan’s award for Excellent Service in Sokoto rural communities.

This was made known by the Sokoto State Coordinator of the NYSC, Mr. Philip Enaberue on Friday, July 13, 2018.

According to the coordinator, the corps members served with the 2017 Batch A, Stream II in Tangaza and Gada Local Government Areas.

He explained that the award was designed to encourage corps members to stay and serve diligently in the rural areas.

Rewarding the awardees, the Sultan’s Personal Secretary, Hali Machiddo, presented them with sets of Plasma Television with N 100,000 prizes each.

Also, the NYSC Coordinator stated that the Sultan’s award for “Best Behaved Male and Female Corps Members” was geared at encouraging corps members not to over-concentrate in urban areas, adding that where services of corps members are more needed was by the rural dwellers.

He said; “We are hopeful some corps members from the state will get Presidential awards as the committee begins to screen nominations from states.”

However, Enaberue announced that the NYSC has partnered with some agencies to train corps members on business skills for them to be productive during their service year.
