Nigerians on the micro-blogging site, Twitter have taken to their various handles to react to the controversial statement made on Wednesday by Nasir El-Rufai, Kaduna State Governor.
Newsbreakers reported yesterday that on an interview with National Television Authority’s Tuesday Live, El-Rufai said Nigeria is an independent country and doesn’t need foreigners telling her what to do.
“Those that are calling for anyone to come and intervene in Nigeria, we are waiting for the person that would come and intervene, they would go back in body bags,” the Kaduna state governor said.
In reaction to this, Senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani tweeted that “threatening foreigners with Body Bags is not nationalism or patriotism, it’s fascism. They simply want to switch off the lights, close the windows and the doors and count our votes.” He was referring to El-Rufai’s back-tracking that his comment was from a place of patriotism.
Sani added that “they are just watering the flowers of our democracy with kerosene.”
